Pam Houston`s novel centers on a dog named Dante, who is diagnosed with cancer. Dante`s owner, Rae, a writer in Colorado, is determined to save her dog`s life, and, with the help of a heroic veterinarian, Rae`s actor boyfriend Jonathan, and a group of devoted friends, she makes a valiant effort to do so.
